The Team
The eSW team is responsible for the software infrastructure of the hearing aid and for the streaming to external devices, e.g. iPhone and Android phones. eSW is working in a scaled agile development environment with scrum teams across multiple international sites and we are using contemporary technologies, including C/C++/Python and we have a DevOps culture in the DNA of our teams.
The Role
Become part of our team in Erlangen and join our Embedded Software development team as a Requirements Engineer. We are more than 40 people including eSW developers, architects, requirement engineers and project managers, organized in SCRUM teams.
We develop under challenging, but exciting conditions. Our system is tiny, has strict battery constraints, as well as resource limitations. On the other hand, the feature set and system complexity are steadily growing.
You will report to our Head of Firmware ERL.
In this role you will have the following responsibilities:
- Define the requirements for the firmware components of a hearing aid system based on system requirements and technical dependencies
- Release and maintain requirement specifications for multiple projects and multiple product versions
- Support test engineers in deriving test specifications based on requirement specifications
- Create traceability from system requirements to firmware requirements and link requirements to test cases
- Review and clarify firmware requirements with stakeholders and teams of experts
- Active communication with multiple development teams
- Team up with other requirement engineers and developers to define the eSW requirements strategy of the future
- Capture and maintain requirements in tools like Azure DevOps Server and Polarion
Requirements
You most likely fit the following profile:
- Bachelor / Master / PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering / Electronics or any other relevant discipline
- At least 3 years proven experience and skills in writing and maintaining technical requirements
- Experience in at least one requirements management tool (e.g. Polarion, Doors, Azure DevOps Server)
- Good communication, conflict resolution and moderation skills
- Good understanding of MS Office Applications (e.g. handling of templates)
- Open to working in an international team
- Basic understanding of software or embedded systems is an advantage
- Experience in the development of software for regulated environments (e.g. medical devices developed according to IEC 62304) is an advantage
- Certification according to IREB (International Requirements Engineering Board) or similar is an advantage
- Knowledge about engineering tools and scripting languages (e.g. Python, Matlab) is an advantage
- Experience in agile software development is a plus
- Very good command of spoken and written English. German would be an added advantage
